Daniel Goldstein made Aliyah with
his family in 1971 at the age of seven. After high school he
continued his studies and qualified as a licensed electrician.
He then returned to the United States to further his education
and work experience in the field, as well as specializing in
business.
In 1992, Daniel returned to Israel, where
he married Elana, settling down and making his home in Israel.
In 1993, Daniel opened a successful business, which
unfortunately came to a close when he and his wife experienced a
severe car accident in 1998. Daniel and Elana had two children
but lost a third child when a Jordanian truck hit the vehicle he
and his wife were driving in, both suffering severe injuries.
After a year of hospitalization and
treatment at Hadassah Hospital, Daniel took his wife and family
to America. Daniel realized that serious changes needed to be
made in Israel, so that his children and other children would
have a better future in Israel.
Daniel feels strongly that America Kan is
the way to go about making those changes. He views himself as a
man of action, someone who does not want to sit around and
complain, waiting for others to take the reins of leadership and
effect change. Daniel knows that “the root of the problem needs
to be tackled in order to plant the seeds of change.”

As a man of business, Daniel has
experienced first-hand, the fallacies of governmental
proceedings. “There should be regulations to follow,” says
Daniel, “specific steps that are outlined clearly for the
business man and for the government offices the businessman
deals with on a day to day basis. Instead of it being about red
tape and who you know in the government offices, or the daily
whims of the government employee sitting behind his desk, it
should be about official steps taken and a precise structure
that is clearly defined for all.”
Daniel is determined to influence the
making of these long needed changes by taking an active role in
America Kan, running for Knesset, and having a real say where it
counts.
“The money the government allocates and
spends in all areas, needs to be rethought and serious
consideration needs to be given to the real and true financial
needs of the people,” says Daniel. The people should be able to
decide if it is more important for their city to have new
manicured lawns in front of the municipal building, or for them
to get a serious reduction on their yearly property taxes.
“With America Kan, regular people trying to make a life for
themselves in Israel, have a chance to make the difference they
only dreamed about. Being a part of America Kan, makes this
dream into a reality.”
Today, Daniel and Elana have three
children; two born in Jerusalem, and one in the United States.
They run a prominent electrical company, installing top of the line equipment in major New York offices.
Daniel strongly believes in giving back to his community and
country. These convictions led him to go through the
rigorous training of becoming a New York firefighter.
Daniel graduated and is now an active volunteer firefighter in
New York, not only sacrificing his life for others, but serving
as a role model in his community as well.
Daniel and Elana wish to
help Israel make the necessary changes through America Kan, in
the hope that it will become a place as financially free as
America, and eventually no one, including the Goldsteins, will
be held back from making a real successful life in Israel.
